Michael Berry

Founding Partner

Michael S. Berry, ChFC

Michael S. Berry, ChFC provides clients with 25 years of experience in the financial consulting sector. He specializes in comprehensive planning strategies inclusive of insurance, asset protection, tax reduction, executive benefits, asset management, private equity, and investment banking.

Apricity’s client demographic consists of entrepreneurs of closely held businesses. Many with complex assets both liquid and illiquid. Apricity is honored to have a focus in serving the top 5% of plastic surgeons and Aesthetic professionals nationwide. We are passionate about serving the healthcare and aesthetics industry with comprehensive financial consulting services.

Michael is also an Owner of Lion Street; a national financial services distribution company with over 125 firms nationwide. Lion Street Firms all specialize in financial solutions for high-net-worth individuals, family offices, business owners, and corporate clients.

You can find Michael listed as a Forbes “Top 50 Financial Security Professional” 2022 and 2023. Also, ranking number one (1) in Connecticut.  In 2009, he received the prestigious award for “Four Under Forty” as a top advisor from the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). Michael was also the recipient of the “Ann Liston Award for Excellence in Ethical Standards” from Northwestern Mutual and is the multiple-time recipient of the coveted “National Quality Award” (NQA). Medical Economics Magazine has also recognized Michael as one of the “150 Best Financial Advisors for Physicians”.

Michael is a published author and subject matter specialist. His work has appeared in Physicians Money Digest, Medical Economics, The Law Journal Newsletters, and Financial Advisor Magazine.

Michael is a veteran speaker and has addressed audiences at the ASPSs (American Society of Plastic Surgeons), The HCAA (National Health Care CPA Association), The Business of Pain Management, Lion Street Indaba, The Rainmaker Companies, and national industry association events.

 Michael graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and holds the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designation from the American College in Pennsylvania. He holds active licenses in Life, Health and Accident Insurance and the NASD Series 6, 63, 66, and 7 licenses. Michael resides in Newtown, Connecticut with his wife Christine and three children. When at play, Michael’s hobbies include tennis, Crossfit, and wake surfing.

President

Lindsey Cruz

Lindsey brings over 18 years of experience in the financial services, insurance and investment advisory spaces.

Lindsey specializes in managing clients in the healthcare and specialty aesthetics fields. She leads operations and project management with a deep background in servicing advisory and insurance business as well as overseeing compliance. She also often works directly as concierge to clients during their engagement process working collaboratively alongside all stakeholders to ensure deliverables are executed efficiently and effectively.

What she enjoys most about her position is getting to work with clients from all over the world and learning their backgrounds, their family values and goals and helping to make those visions a reality.

Lindsey earned her Bachelor of Science degree in business management, marketing and related support services from the University of Connecticut.

Lindsey resides in Mystic, Connecticut, with her husband, Brian, and their two children. In her free time, she likes to go boating, hiking and spend time with family.

Randy Long

Wealth Advisor

Randy Long

Randy brings a diverse set of financial capabilities that have proven instrumental in supporting our client base.   He works incredibly close with his clients, their families, and their advisory teams, providing planning, strategy, and guidance in support of their financial goals. 

A key strength throughout Randy's career has been a proficiency for building strong customer relationships. His ability to understand needs and offer viable solutions has allowed us to assist our families in reaching their financial goals and strengthen their Family Wealth Enterprise. He has a demonstrated track record of leading with integrity and excelling at finding the optimal solution for his clients.

Randy earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree majoring in accounting from the University of Memphis. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and member of the Tennessee Society of CPAs.

Randy and his wife Melissa just celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary and have four children and three grandchildren. Outside of work, Randy enjoys traveling with his wife, spending time with family and friends, and taking on DIY projects around the home. Reverse engineering comes easily to him - if something is broken, he anxiously tears it apart to return it to like-new functionality.

Kevin Matson

Portfolio Manager

Kevin Matson

Kevin brings over 29 years of experience in the financial, equity, and trading spaces. 

Kevin joined Addicus in 2020 as manager, portfolio advisory.  He specializes in financial services, retirement planning, equity management, and trade management strategies for a select group of U.S. and Non-U.S. citizens. 

Prior to joining Addicus, he worked on Wall Street for 25 years, the majority of which was with Instinet (Nomura) where he traded equities for large banks, mutual funds, and hedge funds.  Kevin was a Managing Director and in charge of a team of sales traders who helped pioneer electronic trading in the late 1990’s, as well as providing full-service execution of trades for their clients.   

In March of 2020, Kevin joined MSF Companies which later joined Addicus in June of 2020.  He is a skilled professional who has taken his vast institutional experience and applied that to his new role working with high-net-worth individuals and families.  Having spent many years studying and trading in the equity market, Kevin has a calm and rational approach to money management, and this is reflected in his stewarding clients’ marketable securities portfolios.  

Kevin graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Economics.  He previously held the NASD Series 3, Series 7, Series 24, Series 55, and Series 63 licenses when working on Wall Street.  He currently holds the NASD Series 65 license. 

Kevin resides in the Westchester County, New York, with his wife Tracey and their three children.  When Kevin is not working or spending time with his family, he enjoys long walks with his two dogs.  Kevin is also an avid platelet donor and a certified high school and youth basketball referee.

Mariana Mareno

Operations Manager

Mariana Mareno

In her role as Operations Coordinator, Mariana actively works within all divisions of the firm, providing operational support to the Partner and President and other members of the team.

Her areas of expertise are in marketing and client support. She excels in her role by working alongside all team members and focusing on client servicing and operations.

Prior to joining Apricity, Mariana was a legal assistant for two years, and has four years of experience working in sales, marketing, and as an account manager. She also has over three years of experience working as a paraplanner at a financial advisory firm.

Mariana holds a Bachelor or Business Administration in Marketing from Auburn University.

Mariana resides in Birmingham, AL with her husband and son. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, and traveling.
